Agnivesh Agarwal is an Indian businessman and industrialist who is the son of Anil Agarwal, the founder and chairman of Vedanta Resources. He is the chairman and director of Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Vedanta Limited that operates a 1,980 MW thermal coal-based power plant in Punjab. He joined TSPL as director and chairperson on April 27, 2019. Agnivesh Agarwal holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mumbai. He has more than a decade of rich experience in the corporate sector with a strong knowledge of business operations and in-depth experience in managing projects. He has been associated with various Vedanta Group companies in India and abroad, such as Hindustan Zinc Limited, Fujairah Gold FZC, Sterlite Energy Limited, BALCO, and Madras Aluminium Company Limited. He has also been a director of several other companies, such as Agarwal Galvanising Pvt Ltd, Caitlyn India Private Limited, Tengpani Tea Company Ltd, Twin-Star International Ltd, and Primex Healthcare & Research Pvt Ltd. According to some sources, he currently serves as a director in six companies in India. He is married to Puja Bangur, who is the daughter of Hari Mohan Bangur, the joint managing director of Shree Cements. He is a wildlife and mountain trail enthusiast who likes to do research and read in his spare time. He practices yoga and meditation for peace of mind and energy. He was involved in a tax controversy in 2017 when he was accused of not disclosing Rs.2,40,000 worth of additional income that he earned between 2009-10.
