Documents Required For GST Registration

Share

In India, any individual or business entity that engages in the taxable supply of goods or services within a state, and has an annual turnover exceeding Rs 20 lakh (with variations depending on the state or union territory), must register for Goods and Services Tax (GST). Similarly, businesses that engage in inter-state supply, regardless of their turnover, must also obtain GST registration.

Once registered, the individual or entity is assigned a unique GST registration number, also known as GSTIN. This 15-digit number is used by the tax authorities to track and monitor the registered person’s compliance with tax laws and their payment of taxes.

The documents required for GST registration vary depending on the constitution of the business and the type of GST registration obtained. It is essential to ensure that all necessary documents are submitted accurately and on time to avoid any complications or penalties.
