		

{"id":1121,"date":"2016-04-08T09:16:46","date_gmt":"2016-04-08T09:16:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tofler.in\/blog\/?p=1121"},"modified":"2018-05-15T05:47:27","modified_gmt":"2018-05-15T05:47:27","slug":"things-you-must-know-about-bcci","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tofler.in\/blog\/things-you-must-know-about-bcci\/","title":{"rendered":"Things you must know about BCCI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BCCI, the richest\u00a0cricket board in the world is organizing <strong>Indian Premier League \u00a0(IPL) from 9th April, 2016<\/strong>. \u00a0We thought this would be a good time to curate a few interesting facts about BCCI.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1.<\/strong> BCCI- <strong>Board of Control for Cricket in India<\/strong>&#8211; is the governing body for cricket in India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>2.<\/strong> The <strong>87 year old Board<\/strong> was formed in December 1928.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>3.<\/strong> The BCCI is a society and a not for profit organization and the profits (surplus) earned by BCCI have to be reinvested into the betterment of cricket in India.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>4.<\/strong> The sources of income for the BCCI are media rights, sponsorship income, sale of tickets, income from international tours and interest income.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>5.<\/strong> In FY 2014-15, the Board reported a <strong>total income of INR 1266.41 crores<\/strong> and its Surplus of income over expenditure stood at INR 167 crores. The latter\u00a0stood at INR 526 crores in FY 2013-14. <strong>Indian Premier League contributed INR 126.17 crores to the surplus.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>6.<\/strong> The expenditure on domestic and international tournaments stood at INR 84.26 crores and 62.48 crores, respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>7.<\/strong> The Board has to pay revenue share to the players as well. This stood at INR 11 crores.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>8.<\/strong> India\u2019s tour to England in 2014 earned the Board the highest income of INR 27.63 crores.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>9.<\/strong> How cash rich is the BCCI? Its <strong>interest income on FD and savings accounts stood at INR 85.94 crores<\/strong> in FY 2014-15.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>10.<\/strong> The 2014 Champions League which was jointly organized by BCCI, Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa, <strong>cost the BCCI INR 628 crores<\/strong>. The Champions League has since been abandoned. It sold tickets worth 9.58 crores.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>11.<\/strong> BCCI has an inventory of <strong>cricket balls worth INR 1.18 crores<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>12.<\/strong> To be even <strong>invited for placing bids<\/strong> for a tender at IPL you need to <strong>pay INR 2 lacs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>13.<\/strong> The Indian <strong>cricket players are divided into 3 grades- A,B and C<\/strong> and are paid according to their grade.
